The Ones We Lost
ongoing research project & artist book - 2023/24
"The Ones We Lost" started as a research project of curated archive family photos of friends and family members who have been lost along life's journey —whether through death, migration, or the natural progression of life into adulthood. My approach delves into the concept of the presence of the absent, exploring the impact of our beloved ones and the traces they leave behind in these archive images — one of the few tangible proofs of their existence. Infused with a blend of nostalgia and melancholy, the core of this research emanates from a sense of inquiry and need to comprehend the intricacies of the past.

The Ones We Lost - artist book (limited edition) - 2024
Since the start, I wanted to make a completely handcrafted and intimate book out of this very personal project. The book is printed in 20 signed copies. Every copy is different. I chose to print it on tracing paper as this material allows the images to connect and interact with each other, such as the network of memories.
