The Ones We Lost

"The Ones We Lost" started as a research project of curated archive family photos of friends and family members who have been lost along life's journey —whether through death, migration, or the natural progression of life intoadulthood. My approach delves into the concept of the presence of the absent,exploring the impact of our beloved ones and the traces they leave behind inthese archive images — one of the few tangible proofs of their existence.Infused with a blend of nostalgia and melancholy, the core of this researchemanates from a sense of inquiry and need to comprehend the intricacies of thepast.

Since the beginning I wanted to make a book of this project completely handcrafted and intimate as these photos are personal and very dear to me. The book is printed in 10 signed copies. I intervented with colors in some of the pages, which makes every copy different. I chose to print it on tracing paper as this material allows the images to breath, connect and interact with each other, such as a network of memories.
